Initiators

Hans Ulrich Obrist joined the Serpentine Gallery as co-director of exhibitions and programmes and director of international projects in April 2006. Prior to this he was curator of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris since 2000 as well as curator of Museum in Progress, Vienna from 1993-2000. He has curated over 150 exhibitions since 1991. He has published extensively and has given numerous interviews and talks.

Beatrix Ruf was appointed director/curator of the Kunsthalle Zurich in 2001. Previously, she had been director/curator of the Kunsthaus Glarus and curator of the Kunstmuseum of the canton of Thurgau between 1994 and 1998. Since 1995 she has been the curator of the Ringier collection. She has written and published numerous publications.

Cristina Bechtler is the founder of the art publishing house Ink Tree Editions as well as editor of the series "Art and Architecture in Discussion" published by Springer Vienna/New York and of the artists’ magazine "PA". She is an active member of the Walter A. Bechtler Foundation. Together with Ruedi Bechtler and Bice Curiger, she has built up one of the world’s foremost private collections of photography which is exhibited for the first time in the Kunstmuseum Bonn during the summer of 2011, and later that year in the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen.
